Last week, the map industry's most important fair Intergeo 2018 We were in Frankfurt to attend. We attended the introductory meeting of their new products as a special invitation of the DJI team. It was expected and eventually DJI introduced the phantom 4 RTK, a product that could play a more active role in engineering solutions. As the name implies, this device is a new member of the Phantom 4's map industry that we are all familiar with. Now, let's look at the features of the new Phantom 4 RTK without worrying more.
Centimeter Level Positioning System
The DJI Phantom 4 RTK has a built-in precision RTK navigation positioning system and a high-performance display system. Together with the RTK positioning module (GPS L1 L2, GLONASS L1 L2, Galileo E1 E5a and BeiDou B1 B2), it does not require a ground control point, which saves time. Combining both modules, Phantom 4 RTK provides optimization for flight safety while providing the most sensitive data for complex measurement, mapping, and review workflows.
RTK module, 1 cm + 1 ppm (horizontal), 1.5 cm + 1 ppm (vertical) Phantom 4 RTK can achieve absolute horizontal accuracy of 5 cm of photogrammetric models, and can provide positioning accuracy.
Using 4G or WiFi, it can be integrated into any workflow that can connect the positioning system to the D-RTK 2 Mobile Station with NTRIP (RTCM Network Transport over Internet Protocol).
Get Accurate Data with TimeSync
To take full advantage of Phantom 4 RTK's positioning modules, the new TimeSync system continuously monitors the flight controller, camera and RTK module. In addition, TimeSync mapping Phantom 4 RTK's factory-set lens parameters with location, height, and other data over each photo, mapping positioning data to the center of the camera's CMOS sensor.
Sensitive Imaging System
The device is equipped with a 1 inch 20 megapixel CMOS sensor. Thanks to the high resolution of Phantom 4 Pro RTK 100 meters flight height 2.74 cmobtain a Location Sampling Distance (GSD).
In areas without RTK, DJI Phantom 4 RTK allows the use of Post Processed Kinematics (PPK). The device captures the original satellite observation data as well as ephemeris data and saves it in a PPKRAW.bin file in RTCM 3.2. In addition, the Phantom 4 RTK instantly converts satellite data to RINEX format (Receiver Independent Exchange Format) and writes the data to a RINEX.obs file. Thanks to the GNSS location and internal synchronization of the camera, the Timestamp.MRK file is precisely recorded. All of these data is stored on a Micro-SD card.
Safer, Smarter and Balanced Flight
Phantom 4 provides a stable connection between RTK's OcuSync video transmission system and the drone and remote control. For larger work areas, it offers 720p video streaming at a distance of up to 7 km.
The flight time of up to 30 minutes may end before the completion of the work, but even if the pilots stop the task to replace the batteries, the drone automatically resumes its operation after the battery is replaced.
Supported Mobile SDK
The Phantom 4 RTK is compatible with the DJI Mobile SDK, which opens to automation and customization functions via a mobile device.
Flight Planning Application
A new GS RTK app enables pilots to intelligently control the Phantom 4 RTK with a more traditional flight mode as well as two planning modes (Photogrammetry and Waypoint Flight). Planning modes offer the option of automatic mapping or review by allowing pilots to choose the drone's flight path by adjusting flight speed, altitude, speed, camera parameters, and more. It allows teams to track the progress of fieldwork and to collect the same data at different periods.
